Place names used by divers
The names on the underwater map sometimes do not coincide exactly with the official geographical names on the shore. “Banko” is one of the words used in the local diving language for a shallow or protrusion on the sea floor that rises relative to its surroundings. However, it is not correct to estimate the depth of a particular formation based on this general meaning.
Two counters of Sırrı Hoca
In the news dated June 10, 2013, Sırrı Özşen explains that there are two counters between Montenegro and Kız Kulesi. This sentence is valuable in terms of the number of areas and their approximate geographical relationship. However, the individual names of the banks, their distance from each other and their suitability for current diving are not disclosed.
Why is the map waiting?
Incorrect coordinates of a bank can both mislead the visitor and create wrong expectations in terms of diving safety. First, we must separately collect the local names and field-available location records held by Sırrı Hoca.
Two different photo files
Once the true identities of the dive spots are determined, we can publish the photos with their correct local names instead of randomly labeling them as “Banko 1” and “Banko 2”. Until then the two counters should remain on a single explanatory page.
