Why does the dive center keep archives? Çandarlı memory of Sırrı Hoca

How can an underwater archive of Çandarlı be created, extending from Sırrı Özşen's past documents to the future?

Recording the remembered story

The value of a diving center does not come only from the activities it organizes that day. People who return to the same area for years and observe at different times are witnesses to the changing coastal and underwater life. When these memories are combined with dated photographs, training records and press archives, a meaningful collection is formed that new divers can benefit from.

Verifiable traces of Sırrı Hoca

In the news dated 2013, there are statements about Çandarlı diving spots. In 2019, SUFOD recorded his call for the use of photographs and videos in promotions, exhibitions and books. These two examples are concrete documents of the past; It does not produce automatic conclusions about the current authorization document or scope of activities.

We divide the archive into five collections

Oral history: Dated memories of Sırrı Hoca and divers. Photographers: Permitted shots and photographer profiles. Dive spots: Local names and course cards that may change. Marine life: Species confirmed observations and scientific literature. We in the press: Date, link and short original summary of the news. We do not copy the full text of press releases.

Don't let the dates get mixed up.

A photo may have been taken in 2014 and shared in 2024. Press date and shooting date should be kept in separate areas. The dive route may have been used in 2013, it may not have the same status today. Accuracy means presenting the old in its past context.

Invitation to the future

If you dived at Çandarlı years ago, your old ticket, logbook page or photos could complete a piece. We can evaluate these materials in the archive project, provided that verification and copyright approval are obtained before publication.
